The Story Behind & moon
There's a version of bedtime that feels indulgent. Where you slip into something that feels genuinely good against your skin, and the end of the day becomes something to look forward to rather than just collapse into.
That version existed — I just couldn't find it in Australia at a price that made sense.
The big sleepwear brands here have drifted toward the same territory: oversized synthetic sets, designs that feel dated, and price points that don't reflect what you're actually getting. I was buying what everyone else was buying and thinking: this is it? A baggy t-shirt in polyester?
I've loved silk since I first wore it. There's nothing like it — the way it sits against your skin, the way it moves, the way it makes something as routine as going to bed feel like a choice you made for yourself. It's not about expense. It's about that specific feeling.
I started & moon to make that feeling accessible. But also to make something that actually deserved to last.
Fast fashion has trained us to treat clothing as disposable — buy it cheap, wear it a few times, throw it away. Sleepwear is the worst offender. Synthetic fabrics that pill and fade after a season, designs you wouldn't be caught dead in two years later, fabric that will sit in landfill for decades because polyester doesn't break down.
Silk is the opposite of all of that. It's a natural protein fibre — it biodegrades. It regulates temperature, so you actually wear it year-round rather than replacing it seasonally. And when something is genuinely beautiful and feels this good, you don't throw it away. You look after it. You wear it until it wears out, and then it disappears back into the earth the way natural fibres do.
That's not marketing. That's just what silk is.
I went to Vietnam, where some of the finest mulberry silk in the world is woven, and worked with manufacturers to design slips from scratch. Not to source what already existed — to design what didn't. Shorter straps. A waist that comes in. Breast pleats that actually sit where they should. Lengths that hit right. Every detail was about how a slip would look and feel on a woman's actual body, not on a hanger.
The result is silk sleepwear you can genuinely afford — pieces that feel luxurious because they are, that are designed to be kept, not replaced.
& moon is for the woman who wants to feel sexy and special on a Tuesday night. Who's done with synthetic, done with disposable, and ready to invest in something real.
Welcome.
