The Betty is the most versatile slip we make. It goes everywhere — to bed on a Wednesday, out on a Friday, away for a weekend. A black slip in real silk is a different object than a black slip in polyester satin: the way it catches light, the way it moves, the way it sits on your body. The difference is immediate.

Like every & moon slip, the Betty was designed with specific decisions. Shorter straps that sit properly on your shoulders rather than sliding. A waist seam that brings the fabric in so it shapes to your body instead of hanging away from it. Breast pleats that lie flat and sit in the right place. A length that works.

The fabric is 100% Vietnamese mulberry silk — 19 momme. Heavy enough to drape properly and wear for years. Light enough to sleep in every night.

FAQ — Betty Black Silk Slip

Is the Betty the same silk as the other & moon slips? Yes. All four & moon silk slips are made from the same 100% Vietnamese mulberry silk at 19 momme. The difference between them is colour and print, not quality.

Will black silk fade? All black fabric lightens slightly over time with washing. To minimise fading: wash in cool water (not warm), avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight when drying, and don't use detergents with optical brighteners. Proper silk care significantly extends the colour life.

Is the Betty suitable for warm sleepers? Yes. Silk naturally regulates temperature — it's breathable in summer and has mild insulating properties in winter. Most people find silk considerably more comfortable to sleep in than synthetic fabrics, which trap heat and moisture.

What's the difference between silk and satin? Satin is a weave, not a fabric. It can be made from silk, polyester, nylon, or other fibres. Most "satin" sleepwear is polyester. The Betty is made from silk in a satin weave — sometimes called "silk charmeuse" or "silk satin." The fibre content (100% silk) is what matters, not the weave name.
